Open Energi is to work with ITM Power to optimise hydrogen production through the use of clean electricity.
On Tuesday 9 July, Open Energi revealed it will use its Dynamic Demand 2.0 energy optimisation platform with six 330kW hydrogen electrolysers and refuelling stations across the UK. The platform uses AI to boost production by linking electricity prices and renewable generation in real-time. It then matches the energy use of electrolysers to when low-cost, clean energy supply is at its highest, subsequently reducing the cost of hydrogen production.
David Hill, Director of Open Energi, said: “With the UK setting net-zero emissions targets into law, the potential of hydrogen to act as a clean fuel source is absolutely beyond question. This is especially true for the heating and transportation sectors, which are the most difficult to decarbonise.”
