Examination completed on Norfolk Vanguard project

The UK Planning Inspectorate has completed its examination of Vattenfall’s application to build the 1.8GW Norfolk Vanguard offshore windfarm.

On 10 September, reNEWS reported that a recommendation on the project had now been sent to UK Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Andrea Leadsom, with a final ruling due by 10 December.

If given the green light, construction on the Vanguard project could commence in early 2021. Both that and the Norfolk Boreas Offshore windfarm previously received the backing of Norfolk County Council in late August, with Councillor Andy Grant claiming the projects would be a “huge game changer”.
