Ford drivers will be able to access over 118,000 public charging points across Europe after a partnership was secured with NewMotion.
Under the new deal, a smartphone and tablet app will enable Ford’s plug-in hybrid vehicle owners and operators to easily locate, navigate and pay for charging in 30 countries. The announcement was made on 10 September, as Ford unveiled its “most comprehensive” line-up of EVs to date, ahead of what it called a 2022 “tipping point” where over half of its passenger vehicle sales will be electrified.
Ford also outlined how it was working with six leading energy suppliers across Europe – including Centrica – to provide home charging wall box installation services and green energy tariffs for plug-in hybrid customers. Its solution will deliver up to 50% more charging power than a domestic socket and should reduce at-home charging times by up to a third for plug-in hybrid models.
