Greencoat Capital has confirmed its entry into the biomass market after acquiring the 40MW Templeborough Biomass Power Plant in Rotherham.
On 24 October, it announced that it had signed an agreement to take 100% of the plant from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners. It commenced operations at the beginning of 2019 and has been generating low carbon power using locally sourced waste wood. The plant is able to offset 150,000 tonnes of CO2 each year.
Minal Patel, Partner at Greencoat Capital, said: “Greencoat has demonstrated sector leading performance with both its wind and solar strategies, and we look forward to replicating that in the bioenergy sector where we see a significant pipeline of investment opportunities.”
