New network of 2,500 EV chargers proposed for UK

Drive Energi has pledged to install 2,500 chargers in the UK, in a nationwide network of fast and rapid charging locations, by 2025.

On 24 July, the charge point operator – which has been developed by energy storage provider, Box Energi – unveiled its plans for a network that would see each site have two 50kW Tritium Veefil-RT chargers and a number of 22kW chargers. It wants to have 100 chargers installed by the end of 2019, before reaching between 300 and 500 by the end of 2020.

According to Box Energi CEO, James Moat, the company has secured 5,000 locations in the UK for its network that have been undergoing assessment.
