The Offshore Wind Leasing Round 4 – the UK’s first major new leasing round in a decade – has been officially opened.
On 14 October, The Crown Estate announced that the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) had been formally issued for the round to determine the capability of a bidder to deliver a project. The round will see seabed rights for at least 7GW of new offshore wind projects in waters across England and Wales on offer. Submissions are invited until 29 November 2019, with the Invitation to Tender Stage One beginning in February 2020.
Jonny Boston, Business Development Manager at The Crown Estate, said: “After over 18 months of preparation, the formal tender process is now officially open, marking a significant moment for the UK offshore wind market. Now the process begins in earnest to identify the next generation of offshore wind developments that will support the UK’s clean energy future out to 2030 and beyond.”
