Ofgem asks small suppliers to estimate costs of half-hourly settlement shift

Ofgem has called on smaller suppliers to feedback on the potential impacts of moving to market-wide half hourly settlement.

On 22 August, it launched an updated request for information for electricity settlement reform, looking for information on the impacts of a market-wide settlement reform on IT, operating, aggregation, balancing, customer messaging, competition, and product innovation. All data and evidence that Ofgem receives will go towards developing its draft Impact Assessment. It will then consult on this as part of developing a Full Business Case for electricity settlement reform.

This exercise is very relevant to the parallel work we are carrying out at New Anglia Energy on meter splitting and industry rule change proposal P379.

Interested stakeholders have until close 7 October to respond.
